LOL, yeah, the background of this website is a knitted pattern and looks like the back of a nice knitted sweater. I actually like the effects added behind the logo and the navigation, it really adds a dimension to the design. The rest of the site looks pretty clean.

They could do a bit more with the logo, this is one thing that always drives me nuts… The logos, although on the web, there still needs to be more time put into the logo. It’s not just about the website design as a big picture, the logo is a project on it’s own and needs to be designed separately from the website.

Having said that, I know my logo here is not all I want it to be and I am going to spend some time developing it soon. :)

Calm combination of grays and black colors look on this web design portfolio of Justin Wagner. As you hover over the various elements on the page they come to life by lighting up with color. Various textures and lighting effects add to the beautiful design.

Fun Web Agency Site, Great Use Of Flash

How do cows and milking them links to being a web agency I have no idea but the fact that the site looks awesome there is no question. The site consists of simple colors, large fonts, lots of white space & flash animated elements and makes for a web 2.0 feel.

Kind Of A Unique Splash Page Style Website Design

Thursday, March 26th, 2009

hanloncreative

I haven’t seen splash pages used on websites in a while. Hanlon Creative, a Marketing and Web Design company, does not really use a splash page on their website but the homepage is built to act like a sort of a splash page. It focuses on one project and shows the logo, or an element from the project, as the graphic background of the page and then a paragraph of text about the project off to the right of the page. A logo on the top-left and a small navigation bar at the top-right and that’s it.

Very minimalist and very clean and to the point. I really like it.

Imagination enhanced photos look amazing. Here, on this one it is used as a website header, a beautiful grassy scene with planted ancient nuclear power plant cooling stacks. The shades of green look beautiful on the deep dark greenish-blue background. Very nice illustration.

How You Know It’s Time For Twitter To Monetize

Tuesday, March 24th, 2009

twittercapacity

This is a rare view… This page only comes up for air but twice or three time per year. It took two web designers two full….. Ok, enought of that.

Looks like Twitter needs more resources. This is the 3rd time I am seeing this page. Is it the lack of finances that prevents them from making Twitter a smooth ride? I believe it is time that they figured out a way to monetize the site and start spending some money on preventing overloads.

How do you think Twitter can monetize the site without users getting bothered by it? Cause you know how irritated we get at the sight of a stray ad… :)

Bunny, Fishes & An Octopus, Makes A Good Footer Design

Weird but true… This looks like a nice footer. A mash of random things, items, a little design sense and you’ve got your self a sweet design. It doesn’t always have to make sense, it just needs to please the eye.

Green, Green, More Green & Red, Nice Navigation Squares

Very, very green design, all green, with a hint of red… amazingly this whole thing actually looks good. Utilizing various shades and gradients of the color green, the separation between sections and different elements on the site are pretty easily distinguished. I like the main navigation at the top – the large green squares with a drop shadow. They turn red as you hover over them. Looks really bold. Overall, I like the design.

Elaborate Green Header With Nice Pattern Background

Friday, March 20th, 2009

So much to look at, I don’t know where to start. The logo area and the navigation is sitting atop of a nice stripey pattern that flows through out the page. The logo it self is carrying through the stripes. Simple text navigation links look really good inside this stripe. I like the jagged borders which are suppose to be the ripped edges of the green pattern area, it really looks great.

The tiny detailed green pattern is awesome, especially with the lighting effect around the logo area, adding dimension to the header.

Beautiful Floral & Vines Illustration

Really amazing floral & vines illustration work on this header. The shades of green with small blue flowers on top of the dark gray wood grains background looks great. The little white fireflies effect really brings the piece to life.
